Our IKEA Arild sofa

A lot of people find this site by Googling “IKEA Arild sofa,” so I thought I’d post a photo of our sofa in its natural habitat:

It’ll be moved to our larger living room later this week when we get our new IKEA sofa, the “Sater,” which will replace the Arild in our TV room.

    Hy Jenny,

I have been researching and looking around for the right sofa for literally years. I’ve been sitting on a very durable natuzzi sofa for all of these years but it is for lack of a better descirption, “ghetto modern”. It’s super sturdy but too big and it’s tacky. My taste tends to skew towards the “Elan” by Capellini or the “Neo” by Niels Bendtsen for DWR. So, I’ve had this “Arild” sofa on the brain for approx one year now as a very durable and affordable, sleek alternative. I’ve sat on the Arild climbed all over and under it. Lifted it, sat on it for 45 min. recently to give it a proper test, and honestly I “think” it’s perfect. Do you LOVE this sofa? I notice you are taking it out of your TV room. IS this because it’s not comfortable enough for you? The one hang up I have is that they don’t offer this sofa in fabrics, not that Ikea really has good fabric (it’s awful actually). My idea, is to actually buy the couch and remove the leather (don’t wince here) and recover it in a wool, poly, acrylic blend for a simple modern sofa with a warmer touch. Would love to hear the good bad and ugly about your couple of years now as an owner of this, in my view, great design.
